Prinsep Ghat

Prinsep Ghat is located on the banks of the Hooghly River (tributary of River Ganges) in Kolkata, India.

It is named in the memory of scholar and antiquarian James Prinsep, who passed away in 1840 aged 41.

The Palladian porch memorial, which features Ionian columns that hold up a 40 foot white painted roof, was designed by W. Fitzgerald and constructed in 1843. It was restored in 2001 and has been well maintained since.

Prinsep Ghat is near Strand Road, alongside the banks of the Hooghly River, and is a population recreation area.
